Kiwi International Hotel

Excellent staff at reception on arrival and on checkout. The room was very clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The location at the top of Queen St near K Rd was very convenient for public transport use. I had asked for a room that was as quiet as possible. On the first night of my 2 night stay the room was very quiet. Unfortunately on the second night a nearby room was very noisy, culminating in several thoughtless individuals singing "Happy Birthday" at 3.30am! However, I do not blame the Kiwi International Hotel for the rudeness of some of its guests.

Great value for the money they charge. I was cautious after reading some of the reviews and experiences of others, however, they're exactly what you would expect from a 2-star hotel. Yes, you hear noise from the adjacent rooms. Yes, the furniture in the room is old. Yes, the staff is not the best. However, you have your own room, own bathroom for a price that would get you a bed in a 6-person room at a Hostel.

I was a bit concerned due to the reviews but the place exceeded my expectations. I booked a double room with 2 beds and a private bathroom. Excellent location in the City Centre close to restaurants, cafes and bus stops. Everything was clean. The room and beds were big, we had a decent-sized closet. A small bathroom but enough for us. We were provided towels, toiletries, a kettle, coffee and tea. The bad side was that the bathroom door would open itself up so you had to pull it hard until you hear it click to make sure it was really closed. The TV in the room was tiny but we weren't there to watch TV so it didn't affect us. The beds were not the most comfortable but they were ok.

I thought the location was great! It was close to all the main attractions, as well as the bar/restaurant area. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.
